My wife reminded me she is going to be out of town next weekend (10/23-24). I feel like I should take advantage of this opportunity and get in a ride / camping trip before it gets too cold in the mountains.

The problem is, I can't decide where I want to go. I'm thinking about leaving Friday after work and coming home Sunday. Its not a lot of time so this limits my options.

I'm considering going to TN, around the Jackson and Lexington area, or to northern AL.

Any opinions or suggestions for either area? Anyone want to join me?

I've been by there before in a car. That would be a fun area on a bike.

I think you can take the Trace all the way up and intersect I-40 near Hurricane Mills.

If you are interested in northeast AL there are several covered bridges over that way. Also, there is a great ride along Little River Canyon and you could connect it to Desoto State Park (AL) and there are some great routes that lead over into Georgia. Should be beautiful right now.

actully if you are going up to Loretta Lynns on a bike I'd turn north on 13 just north of AL We went up that way the first time we went up there to race in the GNCC. it's hell in a truck pulling a trailer but it would be one freaking cool ride on a bike. it's twisty. it's turny. it runs along the edge of cliffs... it's great.

    but that's just me talking.
