Work is sending me to Little rock again and for the first time I'm getting to bring my bike(Yes I'm trailering it there). So what makes for good short trips around there. I'll be in class all day so my schedule will be tight.

This might be a scouting trip for January when I come back for six weeks.

    Thanks,
    James

What kind of bike and what do you like / want to do?

Several guys in that area, also Hot Springs and where in Little Rock will you be? Safest thing is to get out of town shortest way as the cager's are plum dangerous there....

Gonna have any weekend time to play? :ear

Staying in North Little Rock right off of McCain Blvd.

The bike is a Suzuki VX800 setup for both paved and dirt roads.

I'll have Sunday for riding and that is about it. And I have been to Little Rock alot(I think my work either wants me to move there or thinks I forgot something there) and I agree with you about the cager's are nuts.

There are plenty of places to ride, both in LR and on the outskirts. For dirt, the Quachita NF is about 30 minutes to the west. Many of the roads are suitable for cars, so your VX800 should be fine. Also, a street ride to Petit Jean, Hot Springs or Mt. View would provide a day full of nice twisties. If you want to ride for a just a couple hours, there are plenty of nice winding roads, north and west of LR/NLR, that could give you an hour or 2 of riding. If you pick desitnations, like Paron, Bigelow or Vilonia, AR, you will have a great late afternoon road ride.

I would like to see a pic of the VX800 setup for dirt.

Finally made it to Little Rock.

    Two quick questions:

    1) Is there a good welder located near North Little Rock? (Didn't know the trailer I borrowed had a rotted deck on it and the bike was dumped off the side. Luckly in a parking lot, but my left side pannier had one mount broken and a busted weld)

    2) Is there any Motorcycle Junkyards or Used Motorcycle Parts Dealer(s) located around Little Rock? (Just looking for things I can't live without)

    Thanks,
    James

This is the only salvage dealer that I know of, around Central AR but I've never been. http://www.arkansaswings.com/index2.html

They may be able to weld your bracket, while you look around.

    Thanks... nlp

a great but little known section of twisties is AR 298, runs from Benton over to Hwy 9, only 15 miles but 81 marked turns, then catch Ferndale cut Off at Paron which brings you back into west LR. lots of good side roads all over...

If your looking at dirt travel.
I was looking at options with google earth, and the I 'think' it looked like you could nearly get to Pine Bluff via river levies.
I've got part of a track laid out. There appeared to be lots of trails behind the Nuclear power plant down that way.

Heres a track I was working on.
No promises. Its just a concept right now. You get to keep all the pieces.
