I think my etrex is dead for the 5th time. I'm fed up with paying £80 each time to repair it so wil probably replace with a car sat nav and put in a waterproof box for the bike.

I need some functionality from the etrex though such as:

    Ability to create breadcrumb trails
    Ability to use etrex routes
Ability to use Morocco topo maps - i think these are the road/tiles in the etrex
Ability to navigate to a point displaying a compass
Ability to display lat/long and also use these as goto points
Ability to show and use grid refs

Can any GPS do this and I'm kind of hoping it's cheap (i.e. what's the cheapest model that can do this?)

Can the 60's work as a satnav in giving route direction 'turn left' etc on roads?

Yes the 60 series can give turn by turn directions, but it will require mapsets that don't come preloaded. The base map, as well as any Topo (none that I have seen) will not effectively route. You would need a City Navigator mapset, or something like that. Depending on how old your etrex maps you already own are, they may not require a new unlock code. I know that some people seek out the older maps, (Roads and Rec?) because they can be loaded onto most Garmin GPSr that accept maps, without a unlock code. Also, depends on what part of the world you need it for.

Yes, with a routable map set but..........

Graphics and a faint beep only. No audio directions.
