Hi folks, Seen this dog? Here's the story. My aunt lost her husband and oldest son (He was in his early 40s) within a year of each other about 6 years ago. She got this dog shortly after her son, my cousin died. The dog has been a lifesaver for her. On Thursday, November 17th, she went to lunch with some friends. When she returned to her apartment, she discovered that she'd been burglarized. It was obviously someone who knew her, or the apartment, as they stole specific items, including the dog. The thief may have ties to the construction industry, as there had been several remodel/upgrade jobs at her complex recently. Also, there was no sign of forced entry, so it's clearly someone who had a key or skills. It's possible that the burglar was a woman, or was stealing for a woman, based on the items stolen. So, if you hear of someone getting a "new to them" adult poodle in the Houston, Texas area, please let me know. Thanks
Who'd steal a dog? Wow. Hey Retro, can you narrow down the area in Houston? Might help AdvRiders who live in various parts of the city...
Idiots who don't think beyond their own needs, and who don't give a rat's ass about those of others. Like these two. :huh Best of luck on getting the poodle-unit home safely.
Unfortunately, no. My aunt is feeling very guilty about not doing this right now. This is the Cypresswood area of Houston.
Retro..is the dog tattooed...? Could someone in your family forward all the vets/kennels in the area a picture of the dog and some information..? How about posting up something on Houston's Craiglist with the reward information..? I'm pretty curious about the items that were stolen..and wondering if it may be someone who is acquainted with your Aunt and knew how attached she was to the dog and is waiting until some time passes and if the amount of the reward goes up....
Defintitely acquainted, or at least familiar with the situation. Could be directly connected, or could be someone who was doing construction or such on the apartment complex. They apparently have covered the bases with online etc., as well as posting to a dog "amber alert" web site. I think you could be on to something with the situation. I woudn't be surprised if it were my cousin's ex-husband. He's a weasel, lives beyond his means, and has an entitlement attitude. I'm pretty sure they've given his name to the police already.
The story was on Channel 2 in Houston tonight. http://www.click2houston.com/news/Dog-stolen-from-woman-s-apartment/-/1735978/4817216/-/4pqwd1/-/index.html
Details are still coming in, but apparently an "all day stake out" was fruitful. It sounds like they figured out who took the dog and were patient enough to watch until the perp let the dog out. Molly's back home again.
Yes, it's a wonderful thing. My aunt has spent the past three weeks driving all over Houston following up leads and meeting with people who claimed to have found the dog. Turns out the person who had the dog admitted that their relative stole it. He's on parole and has apparently been very busy with his burglary business. Just to prove how stupid criminals are; they wanted to sell the dog for $300.00 at the same time my aunt was offering a $1,000 no questions asked reward. :huh
Wow close to me (Louetta). Guess I better keep a close eye on the schnauzers! glad it worked out for you!
