And under 300lbs.. 289 to be exact. If that number is actually correct it may take a serious swing at the KTM500 crowd. They say the weight is measured WITH a full tank of fuel... None of this "Dry Weight" stuff.

Did Honda ever make the valvetrain durable on these?
The valves on my 450X were made of titanium cheese.

I like this one, is Honda drawing a line in the sand?

Until now, you’ve always had to choose between performance and reliability. No longer—with the CRF450L, you get the best of both worlds.

Well, this seems more like an effort for the USA market than the rest of the world. It misses ABS, 2 up capability and longer maintenance intervals. It's a shame because it had everything to be perfect. Nonetheless it is a turn in the right direction and I think we will se this changing approach in upcoming bikes.

They already sell that bike. XR650L.

I don't think most people wanted ABS, or 2up, or anything else on this thing.
Its actually aimed straight at the head of KTM, They finally got their heads outa the sand and put something together than may very well be able to ride against the big bore European thumpers, KTM 500, Beta 480rr, etc kinda bikes. I doubt it will actually compete head to head with most european bikes. But it will be really close. And probably cheaper, and that is exactly what a lot of buyers have been looking for.

This is awesome...maybe it'll kickstart Yam/Suz/Kaw into building or updating some dualsports.

According to this page, it has titanium intake valves...

    https://powersports.honda.com/2019/crf450l.aspx?forcedesktop=true#design

    And a titanium gas tank.

    Not by much...MSRP shows $10,399.

The XR is super heavy and very old tech, I was hoping for an approach more like the 250L (but with better suspesion). It's a nice bike nonetheless, but without ABS it is not coming to Europe anyways.
