I am planning on a one day run from the valley, across The Denali Highway and back,, this coming Monday.
    Anyone game?
Why? Time, and it isn't that long a ride anyway.
    Why Monday? Family visiting....:bueller

Yep I am going whether it is sunny or not. Whether it is smooth or not and whether I am with friends or not.
I plan on leaving the Rancho Gusgus, about 9 am Monday morning and heading up the Parks Highway to the Cantwell end. We/I should arrive in Cantwell, around 10:30 to 11:00, I/we can wait for you RD where at the small restaurant across from the Denali Highway, called the T_ _ _ _ _ ? :dunno Then we can do lunch at Gracious House.:dg
    Does this sound OK?:brow

    Gus,

The SO and I are trying to plan it, but are not sure enough to ask you to wait for us. What are you riding? If we go we'll be sure to look out for you. We're on a dark blue V-STrom BTW. We rode it three weeks ago, and the road was in pretty good shape, so I would expect it to be pretty good this time too.

    Yes all "ish" rules apply..

RD and KL5A may need an update to all the "ish" Rules.

    Well here goes :

The current hour plus 20 minutes. Example,,, noon or 12 +20 = 32 minutes

So When Friar asks, Is that ish time? The window for show is + or - from the time stated, or a noon show is between 11:28 til 12:32. SEE?

Actually it is not a "real" rule but still works well when ish waiting occurs.

And thanks for the pic Friar...................

OK, so after the Gracious house, is the plan to backtrack or to roar ahead to Paxson, then Glenallen and homewards?

Hey they are having another rally in Dawson this weekend, and I drank all of my good Canadian beer that I brought home.

    WEEEEEELLLLLLL!
I figer, it would be best to make the entire loop. Right through Paxson, well, we will actually pass Paxson.
I figer the mileage is 165 to Cantwell (from Rancho Gusgus) then 135 across the Denali, and then 185 back to The Rancho Gusgus. That would seem to total 485, a good day ride.
I was at Alaska Leather today and Barb told me it was one of her favorite day rides.
I figure it should be one of mine by Monday evening.

Add 40 each way to Anchorage.

Last but not least, RD, If you fall into the ish time at Cantwell, we will be eating/resting at the Tsesyu Time to Eat Restaurant

    210 parks Hwy (map)
    Cantwell, AK, 99729
    (Phone) 907.768.2669

Till the ish time runs out or The food is all gone. Which ever is longer. So if'n your SO is cooperative we will or should I say we plan on being there. After all, things can happen where we may be the late ones.

I will do a weather check and post the results very soon.................................

Would the assembly point be the Rancho de GusGus or in the immediate vicinity?
    Under the monkees?
    Cantwell?
    Susitna River Bridge?

I'm thinkin here at the Rancho Gusgus is a great starting point. The monkees will be crazy, with the fireworks sales going on.

We can also meet on the way,, if'n others would rather do their own thing.

If anyone wants directions I will give em to ya.

You of course remember? All the twists and turns to the hide away?

Yes I did it last summer on the KLR and had a wonderful ride. But in 2 days. It was a waste of time staying overnight.

Especially when my bed is at the end of the ride.
