    Registration is now CLOSED!

Thanks to all who preregistered... we are going to be pretty busy up in PA.

SCROLL DOWN FOR A COMPLETE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

But you can still get in on the action at the rally by signing up at the GS Giant area, located inside the racetrack. Or... if you're a last minute Gypsy Tourist, show up at The Forest Lodge on Sunday, July 17 and get signed up there.

    ==============================

“What is a GS Giant” you ask? A good navigator that rides off the beaten path to the rally. Good storytelling, photo and/or video skills are also part of the picture. Ahead of the rally, the GS Giant can take a dual-sport gypsy tour through the wilds of the northeast. And at the rally, on the track, the GS Giant will totally be taking everyone’s lunch money.

Here's a video that shows what you can win:

    <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2naCgekvvAE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You'll earn points for taking "adventure detours" as you ride to PA. Here are a few examples of what's in store:

... and we're currently working hard to plot out some more, such as a ride on the T.W.A.T., across the UP and through the Soo, along Alabama's Skyline Drive, up over Max Patch, along West Virginia's River Road and more. If you've got a track to share, we are :ear

More details on point-scoring opportunities to follow, especially about the GS Giant's competition track, featuring a range of challenges for beginners to big dogs.

And if you're interested in scoring a few GS BS points, feel free to volunteer.

You don't have to be a member of the BMW MOA to participate, but you do have to register for the rally. You can ride whatever you want... orange, green, yellow, blue, red... just bring it.

    Hope to see you there!

I'll be there but I already am losing points for living too close to the rally. How many points per GS parts broken. So far the only points have been on my credit card. :D

You can actually collect enough points inside the state of PA to be competitive.

that is, of course, you don't suck on the track! :evil

I'm a rally newb. What kind of track? From pics I have seen it looked like a trials course with slow rolling thru big truck tires. Is there a MX section? :evil

we have half of the infield of a 1/2-mile cinder track. no, you can't race the cinder track (I asked).

here are some drawings I did to support the article in this months BMW Owners News.... and if we get the money, there could be more. :evil

    The BAM Road...

    Badwater...

    Khardung-La (and the Copper Canyon)...

The idea is to have an easy, medium and hard route through the obstacle, with a degree-of-difficulty multiplier.

Scoring will be along the lines of an observed trials. We are *thinking* of making some hero sections where the goal is just to get through any way you can.

After the competition, which is going to be on Friday, July 22 at 3pm, there will be an open track day all day Saturday (assuming we can get enough volunteers to mediate the inevitable carnage.....)

The points you score on the track will be added to the points you score for taking Adventure Detours on your way to the rally.

Should be cool.... all ideas welcome, too!

:nod along those lines, with a greater variety of real-world challenges.

(just had a real interesting idea to simulate slippery roots on a sidehill.... :evil )

I am thinking it would be a great place for a local BMW parts dealer to hang out with extra levers, windshields, hand guards etc. :evil It looks like my bikes going to need them. :D

How about credit for useful tricks like how to use your kick stand in mud, stuff for us Starbucks folks...:lol3

One thing that is shaping up for GS Giants is the GS Gypsy Tour... a three day ride through the wilds of Pennsylvania.

Who'd have thought there'd be wilds still left in Pennsylvania? But sure enough there's nearly endless forest there, several excellent OHV areas, and pretty darned good pavement riding, as well. if you've got any rides to share, we're all :ear

More info is in the article linked above... enjoy!

For the 'Starbucks' fanatics...if you want five points per stop, then based on value I would suggest at least ten points for each Tim Hortons stop and 15 for a Panera stop, I'm gonna clean up - north and south of the border - where the Timmies are less than 500m apart usually...hah!

But on a more serious note, got to get registered and tick the box for a t-shirt, looking forward to a pre-rally week of some good riding, some work as a volunteer and lots of fun...hoperfully the best laid plans of mice and...you get the drift.

8GS almost ready for a new set of TKC80, perfect timing.

    Stay safe all, cheers, Bruce

I'm signed up and lookin forward to the Tour. I'm hoping the parties at night aren't dissapointing.:freaky :slurp:beer:bmwrider:beer:slurp:thumb
You did say the beer was included right? Victory or Troegs as the sponsor?:freaky:beer:slurp:beer

If the track is anything like the one at the RA last year it's all pretty easy.
