Don't know the guy, he's on the right in the photo.
We talked to him briefly at the lunch stop on day 2, nice guy, he was riding with a buddy on a 950 KTM that had an ADV sticker on it.

We witnessed some other riders acting irresponsibly, as we were cruising along sniffing flowers and taking in the scenery.

No officer, he's not a terrorist, his Husky has a tiny fuel tank.

It was beautiful out. I loved the scenery.

Was definitely warm both days. I was constantly chugging down water/gatorade from the camelbak.

The higher elevations near the end of Sunday's ride were a welcome relief (if just temporarily).

Apparently I am not the only one to like it up here

The one time I saw a group of what was probably some ADVers (big GS, little GS and ...?) they got about 1 minutes ahead of me before I thought to try and join up. I tried to catch them for about 15 minutes but it wasn't to be. I'm only a half step up from a noob but I'll be damned if that big GS wasn't on some half-worn 80/20 tires -- whoever was in that group must have been moving in that section (right after bridge over Eel River).

Sorry you didn't make it Andy, I was looking forward to having breakfast with you again.

I definitely would leave the cases at home. I thought they would help if I needed to lift the bike up. (I've had back problems)

As we went through the single track Hard Route some guys exclaimed "you're in here with your cases on?!" That is the part of the ride that was an ADVenture fur shure....

You could leave anything at Stonyford, I don't think it would be bothered.

    See you at WMRS

    Hey Jim,

Sorry I missed you. I guess we move in the same circles so there is always next time... this was supposed to be my triumphant return to action! The next one at least.

    What is WMRS?

For all folks who leave their stuff at the fairgrounds at Stoneyford, remember to lock your doors and close the windows. Little critters can get in for one thing. Plus, we cannot be everywhere and you want to secure your items well. Last year, I had to close the front door of an RV. I guess the rider had the key because there was no complaint. Huh. Did you get your button?

Hey just a reminder for those who could not make the Sheet Iron this year and are interested in a group dual sport ride (ie have bodies there to help pick up your bike when you drop it).

Santa Rosa BMW Motorcycles will be hosting another dual sport ride out of the shop June 14th.

We were actually somewhere mid-pack, but hung out and had lunch.
We topped off in Laytonville, have oversize tanks, and pack fuel bottles, so we needed no fuel.
According to an OMC guy on course, a club member opened the pump on their credit card and collected cash from each rider as they fueled up.
The line never really got very long at all.
Hopefully that person had air miles or similar on their card.:freaky

I got there around 11 - there was a pretty long line - seemed like 30-50 bikes - you were lucky to have a short line when you got there
