I'm down if I can get the new TKC's spooned on before a long ride. Aww who am I kidding I've got a few hundred miles left on my rear. Just keep the rain away from me. :D

Boy, after reading some more of your posts, and the big red MBSFF name calling, I'm wondering if there's any way my bike and I can sneak into Kodiak incognito. I sure don't want to be called MBSFF!!!! Does camoufllage clothing really work and can I buy some for my bike too? Wait a minute... For identification purposes, I'll be riding a bright pink, ummmm, foreign bike with knobbies and pink spokes & pink tassles. I'm sure the possibly-gay Coasties will be frothing at the mouth over that bike.

With regards to the weekend event, we "Mainlanders" may not have quantity but we'll have quality and we'll be ready to hit Kodiak's dance floors (after riding first, of course). Here's an update on who's coming with me:

Amy (myself), Kristin & Holly are coming on the ferry. Amy & Kristin have bikes (both pink) & Holly is bringing her car.

Another friend is pretty sure she's flying over and she will ride in Spicy's sidecar if that's still available. I've heard she really enjoys going over jumps at high speeds so hopefully there are some big bumps somewhere for her to fly over. :wings I'll probably borrow a helmet for her from AKCharlie. A couple other women are still tentative and may also fly over and attend the BBQ.

My elderly friend who's escorting me to the BBQ is an Army vet and he's somewhat mobile, except he has to use a walker. I can help cook so we don't all have to use Pepto Bismol.

Spicy, with regards to your question about whether my friends are hot, that seems a little impertinent and irrelevant. Aren't all women who ride dual-sport bikes hot? :brow

I did, but I managed to acquire a nasty vibration in the process. Not sure if it was the ride to Saltry afterwards to break in the TKC or just me not paying attention to the balance marks.

Balance marks? On a TKC80? :scratch

We don't need no steenkin balance marks - it's a knobby. They're supposed to vibrate. Helps to keep you awake on your rides. :rofl

Guess thats why I didn't notice any. Anyway Frank set me straight, literally. My alignment was out of whack and the vibration got better when I fixed it.

AKDuc invited me to a get together at Nordkapper's house last night with a few other ADVers, including one of Kodiak's infamous Coasties - the young whippersnapper named Cappy (who charmingly referred to some of us as Mainland Scum). If the other crusty Coasties are as pleasant as Cappy is, it should be a fun weekend. Maybe Kristin and I won't try to slip into Kodiak incognito after all. :D We're still not sure if AK Charlie can make it. He has his heart set on going to Kodiak, even though he won't have a bike to ride.

When we send Cappy to the mainland we make sure his "handler" keeps him well medicated.:deal

Don't worry Cappy, your reputation should be intact as I didn't say anything about you being nice.:thumb I said you were "pleasant," and that is a relative term. When I went rock climbing in Wyoming I thought it was "pleasant" to hear an unseen rattlesnake rattle a warning BEFORE I placed my hand on the ledge it was sunning on. :eek1 It's also more "pleasant" to see a big, warm, steaming, fresh pile of bear scat instead of seeing the animal that dumped it. So being pleasant has different connations, especially when applied to Coasties.

The good news is that your medication worked well enough that seeing you in person won't scare us females away from visiting Kodiak. Do we get to meet the man who had the two nice rods? :lol3

Well, don't know bout no "handler" but he did have his very lovely sister with him!

Hey Brian, enjoyed meeting both of you and then see you again today at REI.

Hope you have a happy Birthday up at the Fair tomorrow. :choppa

    Have fun, Mark H.
