I guess I must really like my "04 RRS.

Footpegs hit my calves at standstill.
Not use to the front end dive on braking.
no useful function of the windshield.
Exhaust sounds like a 90 cc suzi.
    sport and cruiser background.

Otherwise it is great to ride on any thing resembling a road, path, or whoops where'd the road go type of trip.

Plan to really try it out on "short cuts" in the S.D. badlands next month. :eek1

Any body recomend a good sounding muffler or real windshield?

    Cape Town, brilliant routes!
I switched from a 650 Dakar to an 800GS and LOVE the sound of mie, especially the B/F/R on DE-accelleration..
    B/F/R = 'Burble/Fart/ & Rumble' :clap:clap:clap
Really so much better sounding than the 'sewing machine noise from the Dakkie!

:D I have a Ztechnik on the '04 and really love the sound of those twin cylinders.

My KLR sounds "tinney" even with aftermarket pipe.
BMW makes the '10 1200 GS sound pretty darn good.

I guess I just like a deeper exhaust note. :D

I really like the sound of the GS's (both of them). The B/F/R is just fantastic - a very good option in my opinion that adds to the character of the bikes :D.

For the windshield I've chosen the BMW large Touring screen and am very happy with it. Not as much wind protection as some other ones but a clean flow right to the helmet (where I want the windflow).

Haven't experienced any of the other "problems" you mention. Moved for a GL1800/ST1300/KLR background to the GS world and don't regret it for a second.
