I thought that was the auto response thingy from bikesales? Hit the button, it’s already got your details and it sends that message, designed for the, ummm, word salad texters with 4 thumbs, or those shut-ins that have lost the art of conversation. Last thing I sold was a boat, I got a message asking if the “bat” was still “for sail” and if I was “negligible”. I rang the chap, straight up and down bloke and he came and looked, and bought it. When I bought the twofiddy the seller (He buys and sells a lot of bikes) was at first very wary of a phone call, saying later no bugger calls anymore it’s all done via text and bank transfer with no actual physical sighting of the interested party. I get more info about the condition of a private purchase from talking to the owner and seeing his other bikes/cars/whatever than I do from the extremely limited inspection you can make of the actual item. And sometimes you get to meet bloody good blokes and swap stories. Sometimes you don’t even get out of the car.

You should just buy a bike and all that time you waste visiting dealers you could be riding. :D

Saw one on a DR recently. Massive upgrade, they’ve got wheels and a handle and shit. And if you mounted ‘em like panniers on that KLR you’d have a traffic light, how cool would that be?

Four bikes (Bikesales), seven cars (Carsales) in recent years, never had any problems, just be wary of the scammers.

They're hoping to find the one person in a million who is gullible enough to part with some $$ for nought return. Of course we are all too smart on ADV to fall for any nonsense like that, or are we? There may be a member who has been scammed, not sure if they'll put their hand up though. There are scammers out there ripping off some of the elderly with dodgy home maintenance, selling Italian leather jackets on the side of the road.

Scams, could be the subject of a whole new thread.

Have a mate with a shed or two full of bikes, some are lucky if they've been ridden for a coupla years, or more. Two of his prize bikes sit in the living room, these are special / limited edition models, one a Harley, the other a Ducati. Both are now around five years old, haven't done any km. Well the Harley did a km or two when being put in his enclosed trailer, trailered to Treasury Gardens in Melbourne for a photo shoot for Hog type mag. He bought 'em because he likes 'em, reckons they'll appreciate. Time will tell.

There are a lot more out there.

If 1090 Michael gets his act together I'll drag him as well, that is if he still has a licence.

Hmm. Dunno mate. I do know after putting anything on Gumtree I always get scammers, the old “working on an oil rig” bullshit usually, then shit loads of unwanted Indians ringing me from Pakenham wanting to sell me solar.

I’d be wary of anyone wanting contact via email, or text, funny isn’t it that the old eau-de-cologne is shunned by most as a means of actually fucking communicating. Get off my lawn.

I’ll have to go and check the 525 now, might not have noticed that the rock cover is missing, trap for young players that one.
