That was the Bill Nicholes trail South of El Rosario, we took it to the cactus trail into Catavina. Some super remote and awesome area....

I've ridden the BN trail several times which goes to Catavina. Is the "Cactus Trail" the same or different trail into Cat?

My undersatnding is that the BN trail starts outside (South) of El Rosario, not really much of a trail at first. We went past one working ranch and across several dry washes and big vallies before we hooked into what I think is the cactus trail? We missed the mud hills and ranch with the locked gate and crossed a road just before we went South on what I think is the cactus trail? This is just what info I have got from talking with others trying to get the name right. I'll try to post up some more pictures to see if it looks like the sameone.

MV please fill in any info you have on the correct trail names. The first couple of pictures above are the second half of the trail (cactus) the other are the BN trail, I
    think?

The sticker cactus on the cactus trail?

Sorry about the late reply Rocker, I haven't seen this thread in a while.
I haven't ridden the BN Trail in a few years now so some of it looks different in your photos, particularly in post# 275. It looks quite overgrown and I also don't recall the old panga. That may be something I have not ridden. I'm not sure what you are calling the "Cactus Trail" but I'm thinking it's a renaming of BN Trail.

That said, there is a canyon North of the old route we used to take that has a gate and fence now. If you take this Northern canyon you don't have to ride all the way south east through the flower fields and to the dirt road that you have to ride North again to catch the BN Trail.
