More from our lunch in Jellico

The woman that ran the place told us that they were about to close up for good as nobody seemed to come downtown and support them anymore..Seemed like a shame.
But don't try to take their guns (true Story for another day)

All good things must come to an end and this version of the KAT did as well...
Once back at Brimstone campground, we start to decompress and get ready for the ride home.

ToolGuy1 looks over at me and says," You know the seat of that Chevy truck is going to feel might good after
riding 1007 miles of the KAT...My Arse is sore":kat

And so we loaded up and headed south..Another Satisfied Customer of the KAT Adventure trails.

I enjoyed reading this report. Will you tell me (us) what model bikes each of you rode? Thanks

Nice rr guys! Looks like your tires were still in good shape. I'll probably be doing it next year in the fall. Thanks for taking us along

The bikes were all KTM's, mine a 500 EXC, Ebar's was a 530 and Jak's was a 350. All bikes performed admirably in all conditions. The 500/530 were probably better suited for hiway speeds as they are geared higher than the 350 which has to run up in the revs a bit on the road.

Tire wear was a concern of mine from the start but as you can see they did hold up well to the abuse. I was both surprised and pleased. We never even had a flat the whole trip!

After getting home and cleaning the 500 I noticed this dent in the skid plate that wasn't there before. We encountered some BIG rocks along the way and this one would have busted an engine case for sure without the EE skidplate. I remember a tight place coming up out of a creek with a bank on the right and a big rock in the trail. I didn't have enough momentum to go over it so I squeezed between them thinking "this is gonna be close".......It must have been closer than I thought. The skidplate is dented in over 1/4 inch.

Great report. How many miles between the longest fuel stops?

Gas was never an issue for us but we were all running 4 and 5 gallon tanks. There seemed to be plenty of gas stops though.

You need a minimum of 100 miles.

Thanks, guys. I have that covered then. I like camping so this looks like a very interesting trip route to replicate this fall.

Yes, I was just asking because I saw that this thread is from 2016. Are there any changes or updates that would be needed to know if someone were to ride it now?

Absolutely! That KAT is a constantly evolving loop, sometimes it gets changed a couple times a month. The best place to get the info is on FaceBook https://www.facebook.com/groups/KentuckyAdventureTour/

If you're not on FaceBook, you can go to this thread https://advrider.com/f/threads/the-kentucky-adventure-tour-kat.919224/

So jakbrand, if we do this route backwards do we go back in time?
