Does anyone know if the earlier 1200GSA panniers will fit the 800 GSA? I know the p/n is one digit off, but they are supposedly the same size, and muffler is on the correct side.

I can't say for sure, but the sticker on the inside of the lids of the panniers that came with my '14 F8GSA give recommended max speed for both the F8 AND R12 GSA

I do know the lids are the same, just wondering if the left bag will fit.

I don't know the reason for a 20k/hr difference in recommend speed, but since it was 180 for the R12 and only 160 for the F8, I'd assume there's a difference in the mounts or boxes...
    and I could be wrong

Aerodynamic instability most likely. If you've ever attempted 180 with large panniers on an F8 you'll know what I mean. It has the aerodynamics of a brick. You might get 180 on a good downhill. It will have the fuel consumption of a Cessna, or an average SUV.

I just purchased a top box for my GSA and it was previously on a 1200. I'm not sure about the side cases...

The side cases on the 2015 GSA racks have cut outs. Research google images and you will see that due to the extended size of the F800 GSA's tank... the right side pannier also has a cut out... ie it is not perfectly rectangular. The left side also has a cutout due to the exhaust. I found images on this when I was researching side cases. I ended up going with Happy Trail Denali's

I have the alloy GSA panniers on my '04 1200GS and my wife has an F800GS with the alloy panniers. The F800 panniers are different to the R1200GS, they are shaped differently. I haven't tried to install the R1200GS panniers on the F800, and it has been a while since I looked at the panniers, however from what I remember I don't think they will fit.

The answer is no. I've had a 2009 R1200 GSA and now have a F800 GSA: the lids are the same but the bodies of the boxes are completely different.

Note that the Top box DOES fit. The side boxes do not.
