Packed the bike up the night before the planned trip to Ipava for the Winter Ride. I was really exited about going since I haven't gone anywhere since September.

So what do I do? I knock my helmet off my bike and bust the visor. Fortunately I had a new visor with a fog shield that I was wanting to replace it with anyway.

I finally get out on the road by about 9 AM. It was about 20 degrees and by time I make it to Alton. I'm thinking that the 3" of snow we were focast to get would stick and I wouldn't be able to get back home in time for my nieces wedding the next day. So instead of going up 67 like I had planned I take the river road. I figure I'd ride over to Pier Marquette Park and make a day of it in that area of the world.

Outside of Pier Marquette there are some pretty descent roads.

Next , I find myself crossing the ferry over to Kampsville, IL.

Stopped for lunch I warm up a bit and call home. I tell Buzzez's girl . My concerns about the snow and decide to turn back for home.

I didn't go straight home. I did manage to take some nice country lanes for the most way back to civilization. I saw hundreds of turkey on these roads. I was looking for Eagles that frequent around here this time of year but didn't get to see any.

Well I made it back home at about 4 . Had I not had the wedding to go to the next day I would have taken the chance on the snow. Cheers! :1drink

Don't feel THAT bad, the truck to bike ratio was as high as I have ever seen it.
