I'll be doing a solo four day trip in August through Michigan, the U.P., and down through Wisconsin. Have first two nights set, looking for camping options for night three. Will be heading back to west central Indiana, had thought of the Dells area but looks too touristy. Thoughts?

It's quite possible that you'll hit the best roads of your trip coming through SW Wisconsin. Camping somewhere in the driftless area at Wildcat Mtn, Blue Mounds, Gov. Dodge, New Glarus, etc would be your best bet. Lots to choose from...

Yep, Wildcat or Dewey Nelson (if you venture over to the west side of the state). Just a little way south of the Dells is White Mound Park. Nice, quiet little campground.

Avoid the Dells at all cost. Tourists and traffic. I've camped at Alana Springs campground near New Richland, wis. Bike friendly and quiet. A lot of shade, too.

If you get to the heart of the Kickapoo area in SW Wisconsin there is a county campground on HY 56 2 miles east of Viola, Wi. You'll most likely be by
yourself on weekdays. It even has a place to take a crap. There may even be no fees. S&S Cycle is just down the road. Some of the best riding around.
Lots of gravel roads if your so inclined.
