As you can see, some conversation between riders and officials can quickly diffuse bad situations.

HOWEVER, we, as riders, must constantly hold our behavior to the highest standards on ALL property public and private, or we will LOSE our PRIVELEDGE (not RIGHT) to ride our motorcycles off road.

I volunteered to cancel WDTIII, due to the issues before us.

Jackson county told me that was not necessary.

I promised to be mindful of the ongoing scrutiny of all dual sport motorcycle use, during this ride, as well as any other time I'm on a DS bike.

    You should too.

If you can't play by the rules....

    Stay home.

Thanks for clearing up what the ride is about with the Jackson County Forest and Parks. I did receive an e-mail about the ride and I see that the riders took care of the issues themselves with the department before the ride took place.

Regardless, this shows that the agencies are watching us and the various web sites we use. Discretion on what we post and how we say things is in order. Thank you dual-sport riders for clearing up the issue with the agency. I would hate to loose even more trails in Jackson County, I really enjoy riding there myself.

I was at a meeting last month in Wausau with the DNR; WATVA, WOHMA, WOHVA, and WOTA were all invited to tell the DNR what we want in Motorized Recreational Areas in Wisconsin. The DNR took all our comments and suggestions and will use them to help develop their official MRA plans. When it is officially issued we will spread the word. In summary, we asked for an MRA in each quadrant in the state. Sizes mentioned were small parks (600 acre minimums) and large parks (our preference) of around 6000 acres minimum. Finding that kind of land in the SE of the state will be hard. The parks should support trails for ATV, OHM, 4X4/trucks, and have a trials bike area. The details will be in their proposal. Public meetings will then take place, please plan on attending them... you know the anti-access groups will.

I was also at a meeting of a State Trails Council Sub-group. We have been tasked with making suggestions on re-organizing the STC to reflect any short comings it has in addressing the trail user needs. This includes hikers, bicyclsts, equestrian, cross-country skiing, ATV, OHM, 4X4 trucks, MC trials, and all other motorized and non-motorized trail users. Cannonshot is also on the team.

I'm looking for a 'preliminary' head count for the ride.

PM me if you plan on attending.

The number of people and riding ability may influence the route.

I'll be pre riding on saturday.

I have the trip scheduled, and I am looking forward to attending if you have room.

I am not afraid to crash on the easy stuff or the hard stuff just getting out will be good enough for me.

SO FAR LESS THAN TEN PEOPLE HAVE PM'D ME.

    SO....

The route this year will include three loops of advanced singletrack tied together by sandy atv trails.

You will need a License Plate, Jackson County trail sticker ($20) and a five dollar bill for Clark County.

This ride will be harder than the previous two.

    I believe I'll ride a 640.
