Damn Jay, that really sucks man, if you need anything let us know.
I just got back from WDT3, learned some new things. First and foremost ATGATT does NOT mean boots, helmet, shorts and a Bowie knife. Second, dog poo makes a good tire lube. Third if you are a new off-road rider, don't borrow a KLR650 and try to ride deep sand. And 4th? Make sure you have enough time to stay for the brats and whiskey. There were other lessons to learn, but that's all I remembered.
I added to the broken rib count (Jay was at 5 or 6 last I heard) with a small altercation with a magical stump. I broke one for sure, maybe 2. It only hurts to breathe now that I'm done riding. Greg tried to kick a tree down and failed miserably, rode to the hospital in BRF and came back with a few stories and an Ace bandage.
Jay, keep my offer in mind!
Greg pm me, are you in MO or IL or MO-IL?
Here is a picture of Jay and the nice folks from Pittsville EMS
It was sure nice of them to drive the 35 mile over to the cabin in the middle of the night... More crash pictures to follow...
We had eight riders total at this years "Death trip".
Joel (Were did you go?)
The weather this weekend was nice! Temps were in the mid 80's with cool nights. This years ride was significant departure from the previous WDT's. We included some singletrack loops to spice things up a bit. We were only able to tackle about half of the planned route. (aprox 100 mi.) We also met up with some of the JCTR's at the Crawford Hills parking lot as an added bonus! Nice to finally meet you Mark!! We did have a couple of injuries as indicated in the previous posts.
Kawboy (smashed foot)
As usual I didn't have a camera along! Silly monkey! FDKLR has the only pics..
The riding was great as was the company!!
Get well soon guys!!
Also a big thanks to Jay for hosting this ride!!
Damn Jay you don't crash very often but, when you do it's a big one. So the Wisconsin death trip lives up to its name, a broken back, 6 broken ribs, a punctured lung, Greg's possible broken foot and Joel scared off by Friday's gentlemans pre-ride.
Brian, sorry about the dog shit on your tire, head and any where I stepped.
Jay, I hope you recovery goes well and you get a chance to ride yet this summer. Ho, and your vacuum cleaner actually works!
Crawford Hills Parking lot
Here is a picture of Greg shortly after his foot decided to kiss a tree...
Why does it smell like dog Sh*t back here?
Damn guys! Live to ride another day, would ya? :huh
Get well soon.
Ahhh, nothing like the smell of dogshit in the morning ( evening, whatever) It smells like victory!!! For not being a hardwood tree, that tree was pretty fucking hard!
I'm lying in a hospital bed in marshfield recovering from surgery.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Jay.
It drove me nuts to be off the bike for more than a month after my CTIII mishap.
Did they use a plug or a patch on the lung?
Well, if you get better fast, we're heading over to MI to ride the Atlanta trail system on the 14th. Shawn wanted to go, but was outvoted by his other 1/2.
WOW!! Take care man!
Kanga says hello..
Wishing you a speedy recovery Jay. Let me know if there's anything I can help you out with. Ernie
Heal fast my friend! I will be in touch.
Talked with Jay this morning.
He sounds much better although he is still dealing with some significant pain.
Will remain in the hospital for a couple more days (minimum).
No additional assistance needed right now.
Seems like things are going well.
Glad to hear things are going pretty good at this point. Thanks for the heads up Bryan!
