I've only been to the one downtown. Didn't even know that there's one near McWaterpark.
You don't skip! You just tell em your the official tube inspector and you think there is a child stuck in the tube (can't you hear the screaming?) I better go first to make sure it's safe!
+1 for Monks, and be sure to get their burger.
There is an outdoor drive-in theater not far down the road (about 2 miles). Not really a "Dells" thing specifically, but in case you or the kids haven't had the pleasure, it's something different to do when the sun stops shining.
Margaritas, beer... Mmmm, Beeeer! Tell the kids to be back before dark.
Don't forget about Cruisin Chubby's
And you can get into quite the trouble in the dells...lots of single people go there to hook up..little known secret
the prostitute ring in lake delton was shut down
That's what they keep telling you?
But those ladies have a few anger issues in regards to men. So look from afar, but whatever you do don't get on stage for a birthday/bachelor chair dance. Oh brother, they're pure evil......
Not the place to bring the wife and two kids.
Bahhhhhhhh, forget all that burger talk, hit the Cheese Factory http://www.cookingvegetarian.com/ while yer there.
(they really do have great food)
Another vote for Nig's
MooseJaw has pretty good brews and is family friendly
Showboat always ends up causing me double vision and coordination loss so you might not want to go there with the family
I had a swig at nigs and bought the shirt to prove it!
Oh don't I know that!
Thanks for the help folks. Got everything planned out.
2 nights camping at Devil's lake. 3 nights at the Wilderness resort, and a LONG list of feeding troughs to visit :slurp . Wave the salute if you see a minivan with Manitoban plates.
Nice! I hope that you have a good weather and a great time.
If you take kids to the indoor water park, wear your ear plugs! All the screaming will leave your ears ringing for hours (this is not a good thing).
The area has changed immensely over the past few years. There are much nicer places to stay and a lot more restaurants and attractions. It is pricier, though.
I'll be ordering a new tent from REI. The one I want is on back order, hopefully shipping by June 11. I'd rather not have it shipped to my house and risk having it delivered after I leave. I'm still waiting for a response from the park ranger to accept it and hold it from me, but in case he doesn't, does anyone live along I-29 or I-94 (or near Wisconsin Dells) and would accept and hold a shipment for me from REI? I'd pick it up on my drive down, likely June 28 or so.
Worst case scenario, It gets delivered to you after we leave the area and I'll send you funds to ship it to me in Canada.
For enjoyment around the campfire, grab some New Glarus Beer..
The Edel Pils is my personal favorite, but most like the Spotted Cow..
Dells?? You can stay there??
You and kids will love Devils Lake! Be sure to hike the trail, lots of places for the kids (and you) to rock climb. If you do not stay right in the state park I suggest Wheelers, it has been a few years...........but they were great to us last time I was there.

I could help out with this.. I live about a 45min from Baraboo and travel through that area multiple times a week. Let me know if you need a hand..
You could also have REI ship it to a store for FREE....there is an REI in Madison WI, its about 30min from Devils Lake..its located at the West town mall I think...just an option and its free.
Thanks for the tips and offers. REI sold out of the backordered tents and removed them from the site.
Guess I'll just use our 2 smaller tents unless the show up online again, or maybe I'll try in the store on my way down.
