If any of you have traveled in the South Appalachians, you may have seen some of the Motorcycle only campgrounds.
They usually have a shower, shitter, bunk houses, nice campsites and maybe power.
Some will host larger (50-100) gatherings as well.

Would anyone here be interested in this idea in Wisconsin?
Maybe a dirt oriented camp in N. Wisco?

I'm sort of feeling out interest with the idea of MAYBE setting one up near Rhinelander.

Bikes-only? So no toyhaulers/campers allowed? No using it as a basecamp for Northwoods riding?

Get in touch with DNR and other government agencies. I had a similar idea and a rustic campground going for about a year and a half. Neighbor was a biotch and complained. Then I started getting a mailbox full of legal stuff about impossible things I needed to do to stay open. It was very discouraging. Free country. Yeah right. No work here. Can't even make beer money without government interference. 10k per year in taxes on my property. No way to pay.

Bike centric, may be a better description.
What dont want, is just people coming to camp. Dont want SxS/ATV crowd.

Setups like yours, small footprint rigs, sure.
But I wouldnt be doing separate power and water to individual sites.

You're not welcome in any case...so :fitz

I might rethink that power and water thing. Maybe not every site. But I’d consider a fair amount of them. There are quite a few people like me out there, not to mention the premium touring crowd that is used to amenities while camping. The ability to charge devices, CPAP machines, Battery Tenders, et al.

The DNR and regulatory crap is definitely on my mind. It may well make the idea untenable.
I aint really looking to "make" money...well, i might soak the HD crowd for the fall color ride...to subsidize the Inmates. :evil

I figured id look for interest first...just for shits and grins right now.

    I get that,...

Thing is that starts to be more expensive to set up and theres the regulations involved..

Theres a reason campgrounds pack those huge trailers in like sardines and charge them so much.
The DNR now requires individual septic/holding tanks for those big rig sites

My dogs seem to like Dans, I'm in.
My son and I would be a tent space, if the whole family comes it's the toy hauler kind of show.

    I like the idea.

I'm curious though: you can't really enforce a motorcycle-only policy legally (I don't think), so how do you keep the riff-raff out?

I suppose having no parking spaces is one way...

    Self contained?

Im not looking to put in dump stations or 30 amp electric service for weenies.

Think more along the lines of a small National forest campground...only with basic (central) power and water.

A step above dry camping. With some weather protection.

You and your AC unit are out of luck.

Jeeeeeezuzz! The property hasn't had a single tent put on it and you're already telling us what we can't do?? This business needs a new manager.

    What are you paying??

If the access 'road' to the campground was only 50" wide....Well, that should do it.

Right. That'd keep the ATV's out too.
