Wow - that buildup looks dangerous!

Be careful, burn dry wood and take it easy on the ladder when the weather is this cold.

Happy New Year - make it a full year!!

No issues here out as long as it's this cold.

When I was cleaning the stack last week I knocked the top loose now mine is hinged open like a truck stack.
I'll have to go up on the roof to check it out when the ice is gone

High today of +5F. String Bean (and the other pets) are all happy to be inside and to get special attention from my daughters who are home for the holidays. Hearthstone stove is working overtime to keep us comfy at 68F in my leaky Circa 1740 house.

    Hey Doc
A family that burns together, stays together!
    Happy New Year 2018

I hope you are staying warm. We are in to a vein of old seasoned red oak I cut and split about 1.5 years ago and it is burning well and keeping out little timber frame house warm. The dog only gets up to get a drink of water and then he is back to bed in front of the stove.
14 degrees outside - feels like it is 6 degrees
71 degrees inside and even hotter by the wood stove.

Holy creosote! Be careful, it’s not uncommon for house fires around here during the winter. In fact, a coworkers house recently burned to the ground. It was chimney or wood stove related but the exact cause is unclear.

    That's why I cleaned it. :p

Got home, jumpstarted wife's car to move it mostly into shop to change battery. Why don't these things fail when it's 80? Job done, jumped diesel tractor so she could spend time relaxing in the wood heated shop until go time on thirsday when the 0 to 98" of snow arrives.

Finished up by a relaxing -6f few minutes on the porch with The Mayor as he surveys his lands under the waining moon.

Your dog looks like he/she has -

    "The call of the wild"

better make sure he/she doesn't run off with the wolves and coyotes.

Wood bin full again. Father-in-law dropped off another load of wood. 90 years old, and he still loves cutting and splitting the stuff.

Alas, will have to take a few days break from burning (unless the kids keep it going). Heading to Baja tonight. We'll be doing the red loop to Mike's Sky Ranch on some dirt bikes!

Haymaker - that is a super great dog face!! Definitely not a killer - but a lover and a lover of wood stoves and long runs in the wood!!
With snow coming to the east coast tomorrow, your pup deserves to be playing in it for half of the day and sleeping by the fire the other half!!
