What the announcers DID mention was that they were glad to see Gerloff make some passes. I noted he was the fastest man on the track the last part. Since I am a Gerloff fan, I've noted he constantly sat behind slower riders in many recent races since he punted Toprak early in the season. I think it is pretty obvious that Gerloff is being held back by Yamaha. Maybe for the best, but it still stinks. Today his Superpole sucked so he started from the 3rd row. He made one fast lap and it wasn't within a half second of his FP best time. The other fast lap attempts were damaged by either run-offs or yellow flags, where he simply sat up. Looking forward to his tomorrow...

Is it just me or does it seem like the comms go out of their way to comment on how Gerloff isn't doing as well as he did pre-RAZ take out?

I find the WSBK commentary team pretty even handed for the entire grid.

With respect toward their treatment of Gerloff, his talent is never questioned and often praised. I don't see an issue with their discussion of his recent results or the incident with Toprak. Those are the main story lines with Gerloff this year. If they were overly critical, we would hear a lot more about Gerloff cleaning out Rinaldi at Estoril and running Rea off the track at Aragon, which has been discussed in months.

I’m pretty sure Stephen English is getting paid by the word….
It’d be so cool if he could STFU for just a few minutes per session!!

The Aaron Slight, Robbie Phillis paint job looked fabulous. Good to see them going the whole hog, leathers and lids included.
As for the racing, or lack of it, architects are good at designing buildings. Leave the race track designs to people who race. Like COTA, it’s a jerky track with no natural ‘Flow’.

Meanwhile… over at Brands Hatch, there IS RACING.
    (Speaking of proper racetracks…)
AND the commentry is excellent. All ex champs.

Congratulations to Cluzel coming back from injury and grabbing three wins and a second in the most recent four races. And further congratulations to Aegerter on his World Supersport Championship.

Alex Lowes has been declared unfit due to continuing issues with his injured wrist. Lowes will not take part in Race 2.

Even though Gerloff caught Locatelli in the last two races, it looked like team orders that prevented him from passing.

I haven't watched much WSBK this year, so I was surprised at how Rea and the Kawi had absolutely nothing for Toprak. Couldn't outbrake him. Couldn't come off the corners as hard. Couldn't draft past him on the back straight. Been a long time since I've seen Johnny Rea look that pedestrian.

That kawi is the most restricted bike in the paddock. I'm impressed that Rea has been able to stay that close, really.

Imagine if this was motogp, and them saying to Marc: sorry, you're winning too much, we're gonna have to restrict your bike.

    The golden child, denied? :rofl

MotoA had an interview with him and he claimed he struggled with pace during the first half of both races. Yet he was the fastest rider during the closing stages of both too. I noted in race 2 he sat behind Nozane for several laps running mid-39's while the leaders were running low 38's. He set the 2nd fastest lap of the race on his penultimate lap, which was a mid 37! It's too bad because he should have been near a podium but he was too slow to make his passes. I doubt he has any team orders, but he's clearly been much more cautious in his passing since taking out Toprak. Still, it shouldn't have taken him that many laps to get around his Japanese teammate.

Race 2 SBK was one of the best I've seen in years - great battling with the top 3 contenders! So glad I bought my SBK subscription this year. It fills in nicely between MotoGP rounds, and I have my gf well trained that if it's race weekend, I'm watching it all. Bless her.

I really appreciate Steve English's very knowledgeable commentary. The other dude I could live without completely. Wish I could mute him...

Looks like it's Toprak's to lose but Rea still has a fighting chance. Toprak just rarely gives up unless he's going to bin it - very smart and skilled racer on a fantastic machine. He's a real joy to watch. Definitely schooled by Superglue!
