Header, muffler, swing arm, shock, carburetor, Water pump cover, hose inlets. These just some of the parts I had to remove to take out my motor. What a piece of shit this CRF450X is. Unreal. Fuckin Honda, idiots, or am I the idiot for buying it. Whatthesonofamotherfuckingbitch.

At leased it's not a Pontiac Fiero. Have you ever tried to remove one of those motors?

What a pain in the ass!

My old CRF250X was the same way.

I used to have to remove the rear stock just to get to the carb???
and dont even get me started on the emission breather tubes!!!
    What a PITA!!
But I guess if you are pulling the motor... You got to do what you got to do.

Just about the time I got it dailed in with a block off kit and flexable idle screw and JD jetting kit... I sold it

Just a bitch to work on!! :cry

Was that a sarcastic post? It only takes ~30-45 minutes to pull ALL of that and have the motor on the workbench. Although it's probably not necessary, I like to just completely remove the radiators too (along with the tank and shrouds.) A lot of parts? Sure. Difficult? Not in the slightest. I'll tell ya the part that pisses me off though, reattaching the airbox boot to the carb on reassembly!

You damn near have to do that just to change the needle in the carb.

    CRF?

    Never again.

TheGrinch is just rebuilding the top end on his 525 at 8000+ miles and over 400 hours, my 525 is at 6300 miles and 290 hours running strong, never had a side cover off. Valve adjustments and oil changes and ride the shit out of it.

My CRF 450 cost me $1500 to rebuild after maybe 200 hours, no more Hondas.
Shit I only paid $3500 for the 525, you do the math......

    Sorry Kap.

I have owned them all...they ALL have their quarks. Honda makes a good product. Sure would rather have a Honda than a Zuk or a Kawi...the build quality is so far superior.

The work and prices are about the same for my 450 EXC. I guess you either like the bike and pay for it- or fix and ditch it.
