Our riding season could be coming to an end soon so, I got out and did one last ride up the Gros Ventre. Tried to go all the way to the end but, encountered a Wyo traffic jam. Didn’t want to wade thru all the Little doggies so, turned around and took a the Cottonwood Creek road to it’s terminus. On the way out I could see and feel the storm moving in.

Mostly dry conditions except shady North slopes, some of those were slick as eagle snot on a wet rock, good places to practice throttle and brake control.
Saw some animals, Buffalo, antelope, coyote, fox and this magnificent bull moose. There was another laying down in the sage that I didn’t see until I stood up on the bike as I was leaving. Didn’t see any elk but, saw lots of hunters!

The town deer are completely tame, always looking for a hand out. When people feed them they get very sick. Please dont.

One of the worst sci-fi movies ever made (and that's saying something) was filmed in Hell's Half Acre, Starship Troopers (link).

They had interstellar technology but the battle was fought with M-16 rifles... :fpalm :confused :loco Imagine how much time it took to pick up all that spent brass. :doh

Nice pic! Love the red dirt and green grass. Were you able to go to the actual site of where they stayed? I heard that you have to pay the land owners for access and had to walk in.

it's legal to hike in along a
marked trail, would have been nice to ride the bike all the way in.

I haven't been out there since around 2003, should probably go back when summer finally hits. Another good place is "Outlaw Cave" it's a BLM primitive camping area on the rim of a canyon with a cave down inside. It's not far from the hole in the wall, about five miles or so. Some sources say that the outlaw cave was where they actually holed up while the hole in the wall was just the route they'd take to loose everyone on the way there. It kinda makes sense going by the topography of the area.

Wow! Gotta go there for sure. Looks like there could be great fishing down there. Probably not very easy to get to either. Thanks for the great video. Drones are a great way to see the ruggedness of the canyon for sure.
I'm lucky to have a base in Casper. My brother and I use it for a hub to explore the surrounding areas and of course all of Wy. It's nice to rest up after traveling the 1500 miles to get there too.

Next time you’re around just shoot me a message and we’ll grab a bit. I live about 25 miles outside of Casper.

The drone footage isn’t mine, just something borrowed from YouTube. There is a trail to the bottom and it’s not bad if you’re in shape. The fishing can be quite good down there.
