I don't think so, but I think Watched Thread menu can show only new posts in those threads. Let me check.

Okay...looks like it works, this is the message Watched Threads tells me when I just went to it.

"This is a list of the 30 most recently updated threads with unread replies that you are watching. There may be more to view."

edit: I just reread your post. I don't think there is a way to just see new posts in a list that way.

Bummer. I hit new threads and learn everything I never wanted to know about politics, bikes I don't own, and gear I'm not interesting in buying. :lol3

Click on the forum from the main menu, click "Watch Forum" on the top right hand side.

When you want to view those forums, Cick "Forum" on the top left and choose "Watched Forums."

    Where is the 'main menu'?

So, basically...I can't go to my CP and get rid of the crap in a new posts search and on a permanent basis like in VB where the crap goes away never to be seen again.

I could have worded that better. The advrider.com/index.php level which lists all the forums at once.

Is there a way to turn off the members active and new posts boxes entirely?

Is there a way to turn off the annoying "new alerts" pop-up, short of turning off alerts entirely. I checked "alerts preferences" but didn't find anything that looked like it would work.

My understanding is that is built into the platform. It would take an addon or script to remove that. I'm with you. I like the flags up top, but not the little popup box on the bottom left.

Ummm, ok. I have figured out how to mark forums "read" thanks to Mossy_Crk. Is there a way to have the new threads "light up" (appears bolded now) in a color different from the color as those we marked as read? Did that make sense? Yeah, I know it's nitpicky. Just a thought.

Lemme see if I've got this.

New thread, untouched, is bold white. New thread, read through, is unbolded white. New thread is now old thread, but has new posts so is blue?

Just dug this up elsewhere, so no, doesn't look like this works at the moment.

Like I said, nitpicky. I just find it hard to discern between the bolded and unbolded. In the previous platform the difference was more dramatic and easier to see what was read and what was unread. It might be the skin I chose and will try the others. Mine is the Black Response (Orange) skin.

What I am talking about is like the example below. Xenfro shows the "parent boards" in a different color when there is new content. Can the "child boards" inside of these categories be set to do the same? If not, I will learn to love it the way it is.
