With 3 consecutive days off, I have no choice but to attempt to plan some kind of ride. Anyone near Tucson looking for something really low-key? Tarmac or dirt, my DR650 doesn't really care. But my off-road skills pretty much suck, so I'm not looking to huck any doubles or do any river crossings...

I'm thinking Monday mid-morning-ish. Anyone have any ideas? :ear

I'd be up for an easy ride and meeting some local Tucson FF's. I'm in the north part of town, Oro Valley. Mid morning is fine, so pick a spot to meet.

How about a nice, leisurely ride to Redington? :norton

Any other inmates need a few hours away from the family unit?

That works for me. Which way were you thinking of going, and where do you want to meet?
There is a Starbucks at 1st and Oracle, or somewhere east?

I know of this "Starbucks," so that works for me. I was thinking of doing a clockwise loop, Oro Valley to San Manuel, etc... dumping me off near Sabino Canyon. (I'm on the NE side of town)

Pick a time and I'll be there, and anyone else who wants to show up to ride or say Hi.

Is this ride planned for on or off road? Also, what time to meet on Monday and the exact location?

Both pavement and gravel. Nothing a car couldn't do.
The Starbucks at N. 1st and Oracle. OnlyVees hasn't picked a time yet.

How about 10am? It's gonna be pretty chilly either way.

Based on your description of the route, it sounds like I should take the SV650 instead of the XR650L. What do you think? Also, it the Starbucks the one next to the old Albertson's (now Sports Authority, I think)? 10AM sounds fine to me.

I'd rock the XR, but hey... this is ADVrider. (I'll be on my DR)

Me thinks the Starbuck's is at First Ave and Oracle.

Mark me down as a 'maybe' - I'll be working all night and won't get out until the morning.

Mike and George, it was nice meeting you guys. We had great weather and an easy 100 mile loop around Mt. Lemon finishing the ride over Redington Rd Pass into Tucson. Lets do it again!

    Here are a few pictures.

The San Pedro River Valley, where there may be a future I-10 bypass.

Good stuff, thanks Clif. It was fun using the DR as a true dual-sport. We'll have to plan another ride once the holidays are over.
Keep us posted on the DRZ250.
