I can understand that. Let me know if it became doable in the future.
I will call them TODAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What BD lights do you prefer the Squadron or the XL Squadron's?
The XL put out way more light which I prefer, and with the dimmer unit they can be tone down although not DOT legal but who cares about that.
I can ship you a Squadron XL and and a Squadron pro (the smaller one) for mock up, let me know and I will get them ASAP to you!
For what it's worth-
I'm looking to put two BD Squadron Pro lights in my Kenaroo fairing. I've got the lights already-got a killer Black Friday w/e deal thru Dualsport Armory.
I realize the Squadron XL may project the light a little more, (same amount of Lumens-4300), but went with the Pro for a few reasons-
Price-Pricey but still less than XL
Weight-it weighs 1/2 as much as the XL
Size-smaller than XL
if anyone one has done any racing/riding at night at speed (even slow) you can never get enough light.. bigger is always better.. and a few lbs doesn't matter to me when it comes to sight..
I'd still like to stack two lights.
think the best way to go would be the squadron XL on the bottom athe smaller squadron up top as that would incorporate better with the current fairing design...
Rigid Designs now has a DOT approved driving light see: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=25551023#post25551023
Set it up top as the low beam? Hmmm...
Pulled out the molds and started cleaning up.
Got a good start for the next run
Lower molds are pretty good. Might be able to pull a few more out of those
Front molds are in pretty bad shape. Can pull one for mock up and reshape to house the lights
Have 5 pairs od cnc parts for the sub frame. Going to weld one up to see how the lights can be mounted.. Hopefully I will not have to do a complete redesign to mount the LEDs
I might be in for a set.
On another note, understanding that the molds are already done, something like this straight from middle earth would be full of win sauce.
that's the one that got me started.. that was a one off with not much information on the build at the time..
dual tanks, formed acrylic and a lot of angles.. not easy to re-produce.
probably beyond my skill set too..
Spent the christmas holiday with my dad (ret. mechanical engineer and CAD whiz) in tucson.. Brought the old sub-frame and squadron lights to R&D the new setup for the LEDs.
Here is the cad design of the new subframe holding the LEDs. should have the pieces cut and welded up for mock up in a week or so..
Cutting the first mock up of the sub frame to carry the BD lights. should have it assembled this weekend
My buddy in Australia is still on the books for one
I still want a new updated version for my bike
I will check with the other two guys I know one of them is 99% sure
The other I have not talked to in a while
Ken, the upper light will need a triangle type brace to keep it from swinging or rotating what do you think?
I do not think so
I have been running them for YEARS!!!
I'd love to have one of these fairings, but can't spend the dough right now. If you make an extra or two, and it's still around come spring time, I'll be grabbing it
I'm still in for one.......eagerly awaiting any updates........
Any updates time is getting short?
HOW DID I MISS THIS! Just saw on the XR650R Thread where your making another batch!
