After riding a 1090, Africa Twin and an R800GS during a week-long group ride, when I came back to the "big" XR it felt more like a trials bike.

Just got my petcock gasket in so I should be able to take out the piggie tonight and get night shots.

Did you order the rebuild kit from All Balls Racing (60-1104) or from somewhere else as I just picked up the All Balls repair kit.

I looked for other options but that seemed to be it for a rebuild kit

    Just curious

You can get a kit from Moose or just order the OEM petcock O-rings. I've only ever had to replace the OEM o-rings and in-tank filter.

Not a big fan of All-Balls...they put out a lot of substandard stuff IMO

I went with the oem 4 hole gaskets as that is what was falling apart. Direct from a supplier in Cali through Amazon

It's similar quality and components as the original Baja Designs kits...good to go.

The wiring is on the thin side (as was the BD kit), but as long as you're not doing a 200 watt all-DC system with a lot of high-draw loads you'll be fine. If you are you can add another pair of supply wires from the battery and divide up your loads.

Awesome thanks for the info. Any other options available? Looks like Baja desighns doesn't make them anymore.

That's the only commercial one still being made that I'm aware of. Vancouver Supermoto (up in your area) used to make an excellent one but they don't seem to be around anymore.

If you want a harness that'll never fail you, Mark Daniels (former 650R Baja 1000 racer) makes custom harnesses for the 650R that are top notch...as well as being a go-to guy for lighting solutions. I believe he still lives near Ventura, CA...I know he's active on the 650R Riders Facebook page. Pretty sure I have his contact info if you're interested.

I do not know Mark Daniels but from the looks of it (lives in Oxnard I believe) he is about 20 plus minutes from me. If you need assistance let me know

Stuff sure looks nice after a rebuild. The mechanic told me some parts are getting hard to find. No more oem valve guides (used XR's Only). Almost fifteen years since these bikes were built. Don't care, still love it.

I think Mark at VSM moved locations about then. A friend of mine bought a wiring harness from him back in 2015 or so and I installed it. Nice product. After that I heard people couldn't reach him.

If you PM me I'll give you Mark D's contact info.

My thought was something along the lines of this pig is definitely going to kill me, so I replaced it with a much tamer bike....the KX500
