clear day after the light rain great late summer ride day
I have 2 XR650L tanks free for the taking anyone around Sacramento. Tanks are in mint condition. FREE! FREE!
You have some beautiful country to ride!
Didn't get any message do you want the tanks?
Ok, I'm going to pick up a basket case 1993 XR600 today for $275. The bottom end is still together, and that's it. It may or may not have a cam. My plan was to pull some parts for my bike, like the kicker stuff and maybe the first gear in the transmission, then sell off the rest. Any thoughts on other components that would be upgrades for the mighty XRL?
Hey Desert Sled,
Just a fyi...
You can post multiple pictures on each post.
Just hit the return button and the screen will space down so you can add the next picture. And so on and so on...

Just letting you know the Vegas massacre can hit close to home to ANYONE in the USA.
I belong to a off road/dirt bike club over in Marin (Marin County Motorcycle Association and my club number is 111) which is north of San Francisco.
A club member and his wife were at the concert. He is a SFPD officer. When the shooting started he, his wife and her friend ran to cover. In one of the breaks of fire he told the girls to run as he went to tend to some of the people that had been shot.
She was shot.
She is dead.
Left a couple kids with no mom.
Let me put this in the most sincere way I know of.
F*** YOU A******
I'll probably be getting the BAN hammer shortly.
Truly awful. Terrible. Hope your club people can come together and help each other through these what must be terrible times.
I think maybe he thought it was JM and he was trying to make friends...?
Wrap up yet another engine build.
I have one of my engines posted here and on Craigslist. I have received quite a few call on the engine and a couple conversations have led to me rebuilding their engines. Olaf contacted me early last month. Monday he dropped off his engine for one of my standard rebuilds. I tore into the engine Tuesday morning and I found the cam, rockers and head center journal roached. With these items added to the rebuild cost he decided to buy one of my pretty engines. I am giving him a trade in on the dead engine core.
Just up from the garage on another wrap.
Thought I'd try something else besides black engine cases and black wrinkle side and rocker covers.
Silver with smooth satin black covers. I had the lower end assembled and on the bench waiting for a buyer to tell me what they wanted.
So Olaf contacts me this morning and asks me if I want the rest of the bike that the engine is out of. He is buying the above engine for his other bike.
Yep, I'll take it.
My machinist Mike at Engine Dynamics has expressed interest in a XRL. Looks like I'll be building him a bike.
No way you’re building Mike an XRL?
That means he’ll be able to do seat of the pants testing on our beloved XRs.
Very cool Steve
Man, that's like the video of the cocoa bean farmers who have farmed their whole lives but are just now tasting chocolate... Mike has been doing all this XRL work without enjoying the glorious fruits of his labors!
