I am 21 and I have had it for a little over a year now. It is still fairly stock, the only performance mods are uni filter. I have a another carb that has had dave's mod done to it, I just haven't had time to put it on. I figure once I put the other carb on I'll take the snorkel out too.

To be honest, I know more people in their 40-50's that have the xrl. More of the younger guys I know have 250's and 400's for the dirt.

I really had big plans for my midlife crisis; Vette, chopper, beach house, new boobs for wife. Surely this ain't it.

I just turned 40. I traded in a goldwing for my 08 xr650l about two years ago. I had a xl600r from age 18-27. I put more miles on the xr650l in 2 years then I put on the goldwing in 3(many of them offroad).

I used to ride a Ninja 1000R. I haven't figured out yet why I thought this would be better. The XRL is low on power, uncomfortable, unstable, and noisy.

Tomorrow I'm leaving to tour the west coast, hopefully I like it better by the time I get back.
