The roundness of #2 works best with the rounded shape of the tank. If you are making them a larger oval is the ticket .

Very cool. I know it's been a while but it doesn't look like you have any side panels on it yet so I'm going to vote #2 also.
I just looked up the Yamaha Broncos available in Japan. 1997 models with over 5000kms STARTING at $5000 US!!! Being older than 15 years means I can import one to Canada but the prices are just ballistic...
EDIT: $3500US for a bike with over 25K kms on it.
