I just signed up again. Not sure why my email address was no longer recognized. Last month I purchased a 2003 FZS1000S with 88k kms. I live in the US but spend time in Spain and the bike is there. My brother has it in his garage and is prepping it with a taller windscreen, a Mivv GP exhaust and a more comfy seat. I won't be able to ride it until October, but he tells me that the bike is a ton of fun!

Got some time on mine this weekend. So hard to do the speed limit on it.

It was an 08. I was lucky, at the time I had 2 friends that worked for Graves. Funny, when I bought that retro kit it was 500.00 shipped.

I miss my fz1, I had two of the older models but loved the 09 the most.

In case anybody is interested, I have a set of SW Motech hard bag side rack mounts for first gen FZ1. They're set up for Givi cases, but I think you can get mount points for other hard bags.

They available for free, if you pick up shipping cost from southeastern New England.

I tried selling them a couple years back, but wasn't successful. Somebody wants them, I'll throw in a set of Sam Snead autograph irons if they'd like.

The fz1oa forum has been back up for a while I think, just at a new address. It's now fz1oa.com rather than yamahafz1oa.com. Any old links seem to still work for me if you just remove yamaha from the url.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. Even though I no longer own an FZ1.

So what’s a long day for you on an FZ1?

I am thinking about a ten hour ride see if I can go straight through.

Good luck with that stock seat. Had a dirt road on mine and could go about 3hrs with a break.

It was a guy on the FZ forum that made seats. I think he retired a few years ago. It was such an improvement over stock, but it sounds like you may be better with your aftermarket.

Such nice bikes. I used to have a 2005? Fz6. That bike was extremely buzzy, hands would go numb after only a short while. Is the fz1 very buzzy?

Gen II has a counter balancer and vibration is very low, the first one I owned was probably the lowest vibration bike I've ever owned.

That is awesome. There is one for sale near me with low miles, 2013, virtually new. Heard the insurance is cheap too but haven't gotten a quote yet.
