It could be a money maker for sure.....
I know this is tacky...I'm a tacky guy...
What did you pay for the 500? How much to ship it over?
Music to my ears.
Now I really can't wait to hear it with the Jollymoto pipes!
I can't wait either.....it's been a long time coming for sure
The actual cost of just the bike when purchased in Japan was 1,300,000 JPY
Exchange rate at the time, a little over $11,000
And then the buyer fee, transport fee to the buyer, boxing and shipping cost, broker fees, EPA/DOT forms, and so on....I kinda lost track of all the costs involved.
I bought this particular bike, not because it was a deal, but because it had been virtually untouched since new with 9000 kilometers on it.
And because I knew they will never get any cheaper, and I am only getting older....
......and because it was time to walk the walk not just talk the talk.
Two strokes are crazy fun! The only way to make a 4 stroke hit like that is with nitrous. Nitrous carries a dump truck load of torque that can build at the rate you want, or hit like a sledge hammer. But it does not have that crazy edge like a 2 stroke. And the sound when all the harmonics come together!
And making custom gears? I know a place called Mainstream Engineering that does all sorts of custom work. Last time I was there, they were running a prototype turbine compressor with magnetic bearings. Cool stuff machined in house. They could scan your broken gear and be ready to send the program to the 5 axis CNC in a few hours.
They are addictive fun for sure.
But with snow now for the 5th month in a row, I think I’m starting to forget how to even ride..... I thought winter was only a 3 month season....?
That's coming from a guy that wont ride [anymore] under 60*F [for the most part]
My rotor showed up today to replace the bent one I originally tried to use.
Bolted it up and rotated it through the calipers to make sure it was ok before I polish it .
Forks are together basically, just trying to decide on which spring to try and use initially. Have the emulator set the way I think it will work best for the bike and roads around here.
Lights off as I leave the shop.....this pile of parts does not look like it equals the amount of $$$ I have into it at the moment....
Kinda depressing if I think about it much.
"Kinda depressing if I think about it much."
Think of what it'll feel like the first time you get to ride it briskly down your favorite stretch of road. That ought to put a smile back on your face.
8 min. worth
Then I just wouldn't think about it!

I've done cars and there is a point where you are max apart and max invested, it will only get better from here
I'm sure there's a lot of us would love to see that collection of parts on our work bench.
It will get better each day.....Just bought my tires for it finally.
I think the weather is finally starting to get to me, never ending cold is really dragging me down.
I know....move somewhere warmer.....
....Just too many other things holding me where I am.
These guys did a video on the RGV, and used a couple pics of my bike in it.
My bike shows up at 5:45-5:57
We are having "winter" here this week. It was 82 this afternoon, is currently 48, and will be 37 by daybreak. By Saturday we will be back to 65 in the morning, and low 80's in the afternoon. But you guys wouldn't like it here. Unless you go to the beach, the scenery sucks. Imagine pool table flat, with endless arrow straight roads lined with medical clinics that cater to the geriatric crowd. (Me ).
There is a curve about 5 miles from my house. We take turns with it on Sunday. OK, it's not quite that bad, but we have nothing to compare to a lot of the country. We don't have frozen tundra, but we make up for it with humidity, heat, dehydration, and hurricanes. It is seldom too cold to ride, but mid summer, riding is an AM or PM affair. Also why you see so many squids riding in shorts and wife beaters.
Sounds like you're just a bit North of me. The roads, like the rest of Floriduh, are cheap, easy and not too clever.
The temp was 10 degrees this AM when I was going to work at 4:00AM......-1 wind chill
And flat country side.....like cornfield flat, with straight roads making up county squares each mile......
I have to travel up into Michigan for any interesting roads....
you ought to ship one to me and then fly out and ride some nice southern california canyons.
its winter and shitty weather here, was like 65 today. some drizzle, but thats gunna end here soon.
Not north. Picture I could hit the north fence at LEGOLAND with a sling shot. Some of the best riding is south of me in phosphate mine country, and up towards Brooksville, but traffic is getting to the point where riding on the street is just not that good. The motorcycle dealers around here would have gone out of business years ago if it wasn't for the dirt bike, quad, and side by side market.
