Awesome stuff. Thanks for a great thread.

And the pics above.... I guess that's about as close as I'll get to seeing Sean Connery astride a RZV500R. :thumb

    Well hullo, puushy...

Might as well put some icing on the cake as it looks as tho it's done ....for now.

Head phones cranked ....or a good sound system would be appropriate..

Late to the party here BUT you really can't get to many sound bites for an RZ500 engine with Jolly Moto pipes! This is my '85...

I'm surprised you didn't go this route.

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Sorry for the poor image but I know you'll get the idea!

Ohlins was out of my price range after spending so much on getting everything else done.
Have considered a Maxton though as I can get one from the RGV forum for a fair price....if I decide I need to have some ride height adjustment.
I do have one of those rock guards on the way also....mine was missing.

    Nitron, not Maxton.....

Just a beautiful job on the RZV busa1300! These bikes are great fun, quite torquey for their size, smooth running and just better street bikes than many expect!
The sound, looks and uniqueness are just the icing on the cake.

For me it started with a modprod '73 RD350 in High School (still have it) and then my '85RZ500 which I've now had for twentyfive plus years. The first and last...

    Enjoy the ride!!!

    Looks great.
I still toss up the thought of putting the original suspension/wheels/brakes on.....
But I'll probably never take off the Jollys for original pipes while I'm alive.

    The last............
Definitely not the last two stroke project I will rebuild....
It will be the last V4 Yamaha I ever do though :beer

The big RZ and RG bikes have always been my holy grail. I loved watching your build and salute your success.

On a side-note that Proms video led me down one helluva rabbit hole and I spent a good hour last night watching videos.

Post more vids of your 500 please!

Actually Nitron is the company I meant to say :thumb.....I get the two confused until I see the blue color, then I remember it's Nitron not Maxton.
I have been hoping to get the RZV back out and do some tuning on it, but seems to be monsoon season in my area this past month....
I'll be running it a bit hard at that stage so I will do a quick GoPro of a few runs up to redline....
Once I get time on the bike and have carbs close, then off to the dyno for some real music.....:beer

    And then the next project.

I really want to like this video, but I'm completely freaked out about your protective gear, or the lack thereof.
You are braver than I am.

Bike sounds great and it looks like it rips. Nice job.

Hmmm, when you're done with the test, tune & dyno go do a track day. Too much time, effort & expense to ball it and you into a wad of crumpled stuff.

Same gear I have been using for 40 years now :D

I would probably ball it up on a track day faster than on the street.
Takes way too much time to pull carbs on and off, and play with ignition to get bike running right at the track....at least for me
I started from zero on the tune, and carbs on a stroker can be a bitch to get right many times, when other aspects of the engine have been changed as well.

Wow...just wow...I know the audio on most vids like this is not great/accurate, but that thing still sounds amazing! It must be absolutely unreal in person. God I miss my RZ350 sometimes...
