You made it...now I get ett.
Happy birthday @OU812
I’m ok. Pretty sure I have a concussion. Thought I had a broken finger. But I think it’s just jammed. Was worried first about my right pelvis and some ribs. But I think I’m ok there. Prolly gonna be sore for a few days.
All my fault. Hit the trail feeling good. Perhaps too good. Bike was awesome. I was GNCCing my ass off my passing people that were terrified by the grease and mud. Stuck with my kid on his back tire and generally loving life.
Blew through the first two sections of trail like it wasn’t there. Hopped out onto a chunk of road to get to the next section of trail. It was a deep descent into a ditch and then a short steep climb into the woods. I decided to jump the ditch and land halfway up the hill leading into the woods. Which I did…
Except when I landed on the hill it was greasy enough that the ass end of the bike kicked out and the bike stalled. And I high-sided down the hill like a big oak. Hard. Fell about 10 feet. Onto some rocks in the ditch. And then the bike landed on top of me. (Oddly enough one of my handlebar clamp bolts sheared off. Weird.) My kid had stopped near the road and had let me go ahead of him. So he was behind me and saw it happen. He came and got the bike off of me and started in on the questions…are you ok? What day is it? Think you can get up? Etc.
Laid there for a bit. Decided nothing major was broken. But I was woozy when I got up, and could feel a headache coming on. That’s when I decided that no matter how tough I was that it was probably wise to pack it in. So we followed the blacktop back into Cross Plains and to the lot in town where we’d parked. Shithead loaded the bikes and we headed home. He stuck around here for a few hours unloading stuff and making sure I was going to be ok. He just left, in fact. Good kid.
So, acting stupid and riding perhaps a bit over one’s head is usually never smart. I proved that today. Might be safer just to stick to the high-speed gravel and sand roads that I’m used to from here on out. We’ll see. As much as my head hurts, my pride hurts more.
I am disappoint. If mods were super cool to me for posting a photo from the ER wearing an ADV tee shirt, I was looking forward to seeing how they would treat one of their own.
Seriously, I'm glad nothing is broken. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. And take it from a master, go easy with the concussion for a few days.
They have a nasty way of sneaking up on you the second day. Even the third day for time I really got KO'ed in a fire department accident.
I’ve had a couple. The last was was while racing. I remember that one…the second day wasn’t much fun. Thankfully laying on the bed with the dog…I don’t have far to fall.
I lucked out on that this time. I heard my helmet smack the rocks. And I think my brand new used one time Cardo took that impact. But it wasn't enough to sweat. Except maybe for the Cardo.
Which reminds me, now that I am starting to put some of carnage back right, I really should look at my helmet and Cardo. I haven't seen either since they got deposited at the ER door.
My riding buddy did that clean up. He packed all the riding gear the nurses pulled off me. I'm not even sure where some of it is.
Since it was so cold this morning I swapped my moto helmet and goggles for my Scorpion AT950 so wouldn’t have to deal with my glasses fogging.
Think today was its last ride.
That's what I was wearing. I may also end up tossing mine.
But then I may also end up not ever needing it again.
Glad to hear you are mostly ok. Its one of the big reasons I ride slow ass girls bikes like the WRR in my old age. Even if I am feeling frisky I can't do anything too dumb because not much happens when you grab a big handful of throttle on it.
A 250X isn’t exactly a speed demon, either.
Let’s not get carried away yet.
And that right there is why I ride a little Lit 125. It’s such a pooch.
Balls, that sounds awful. Get some R&R and heal up.
Go Team VI!
They said this was 11’, Sasquatch says “walk it off”.
Because RamZilla needed to be driven. It had been a couple of weeks.
That's probably a rocket compared to a WRR.
I tell Britt this all the time.
Never met an high side that treated anybody kindly.
Glad you're mostly ok.
