Jesus Christ, that 390 ADV isn’t even out yet and guys are gonna wait for a 490? Is that even a thing?
I think some folks just like to be in a constant "wait for the perfect bike" thing instead of just getting one and riding it.
There is also an issue with folks having a problem opening up the wallet and or wanting to be cheap. I know that's what kept me from buying a KTM awhile ago.
The 390 Adv has sew Manny fails. Cast wherls. In 19” no less? No factory reclused, outdated and outclassed by the 490. I guess I will just keep riding my Honda Rebel 250 another five years till something better comes along at a reasonable price of around $1999.

By the time a 490 comes out, it'll have taken so long that the 790 will have had time to be a flop, discontinued, replaced by a 720, at which point folks will be then pining over the 575....but won';t want it as spreadsheets will show the 5th gear only takes them to 101.8 mph at 6200rpm, and the bike will then cost 15,000 Euro.
But that 250 rebel will still be kicking so.....
My skills with paint have a ways to go before they are Mow-ree quality. lol
The 390Rrrrrrrrr will never happen because it will steal sales from the 490, 790, 1090, 1190, 1290....
KTM has bike moodles in 50/65/85/105/125/150/250/300/350/390/450/500/690 and on and on.... in orange, white and now red!
Sew, maybe they ned to cut every other of the models out to protect themselves from stealing their own sales?

Emissions will probably force that 390 into a 490. That’s the latest trend.
In fairness, the 2008-2016 exc (could be shared with RFS era exc's too?) did have a far better gear spread 4th to 6th. The 2017+ feels kind of disjointed. Not the end of the world true, but it's an aggravating foible nonetheless. One has the right to expect better for the price charged. Beta 480/500 and the mighty CRF450L don't have this aggravation. Even the blue slug has normal gear ratios FFS
I cannot wait for next year, to see what bikes can pass this Euro 5 crap....
