Hi, I have a Yamaha TT-R 225 '04 and recently my dad and I adjusted the valves because it was backfiring and we read that checking to see if the exhaust valve clearance was to large it would back fire. We correctly adjusted the clearance and I was riding the bike around dawn with my friend and when I stopped to let him ride I noticed right where the exhaust came out of the engine it was cherry/orangey red. I don't know if the pipe is usually that hot and the only reason I noticed it now was because it was darker out or if it is letting too much exhaust out or just running really hot for some reason. I would greatly appreciate some answers soon so I can have it fixed for the ride my dad and I are going on. Thanks!

The one my son had would glow cherry red, runs really lean. You can enrichen the low end by removing the carb, and adjusting the low speed jet. It requires drilling out the 'slug' they have covering the jet but make a big difference.
