Looking through the points for each category, Rossi (maybe Nakagami not far behind), Roberts, and McPhee standout to me as farthest from reaching expectations for this season.

MM93, even with skipping the first two races and 4 DNF, could still finish 3rd (stretch) or 4th in the championship. Illustrates the lack of consistency for everyone besides Fabio.

Mir is on a second tier machine, hasn't won a race, and is a solid third at this point. I think that speaks to consistency.

He's third because everyone is so inconsistent. The same reason Marquez is 5th and likely to finish higher than 5th. Mir has only been on the podium 5 times. Machine is part of the equation. Same for everyone else. Maybe lack of consistently high finishes is a better way to put it. Which can also be down the level of competition not allowing some people to routinely finish in the top positions.

If only he and Suzuki could learn to qualify a bit better. Hard to podium when you're consistently starting from the 3rd row of the grid.

:scratch Er, MM has been the exact opposite of consistent. 4 podiums and 4 DNF's. The other placings were all over the shop. Although, the last 4 races he might be starting to come right. Only 10 points behind Zarco, MM should reel that in.

Yeah, MM93 is where he is because everyone except Fabio is inconsistent, including MM93.

Getting complex. Mir finishes almost all races, qualifies around 10th and finishes in the top 5 - he's consistent. That's all I'm saying.

    Semi-useless comparisons

    After 16 rounds
Avg. finish pos not including DNF
    Fabio 3.8, no DNF
    Pecco 4.8, two DNF (9 top 5)
    Mir 5, two DNF (9 top 5)
MM 5.5, four DNF, two DNS

After 16 rounds Fabio has 2 less points, 267, than Dovi finished 2019 with, in second place, and 17 completed races (2 DNF in 19 rounds)
In 2019 Dovi had an average finish position of 3.4 not including the two DNF. In 2019 MM had an average finish position, not including 1 DNF, of 1.33 . Finished with 420 points. :bubba

I only mention Dovi as he was a consistently high finisher during his last couple of years with Ducati before things fell apart with the team last year.

I still can't believe the riders, engineers, team managers, and rule makers in the GP paddock aren't reading this thread. All the answers are so easy.
