Heres the track from this ride that Flux Capacitor organized.
North GA at it's best...
how in the hell do i open this
Do you have a Garmin GPS?
They come with a program called MapSource that will let you view the track. MapSource will also let you view the track in Google Earth.
I'll open it in GE and post a screen capture...be right back.
yes but i have loaded it on my new computer thanks i may ask for more help on this thanks
Make sure you have the latest version of MapSource...
I froze my nutz off...
Is there any pics from this ride also?
from east tn here, but planning on a d/s weekened in helen in spring
Looks like a Good ride. Is there alot of pavement on the gpx file? Would helen, ga be a good overnight spot to explore some of this or other? I'm going to plan a weekend in the spring to come down for a few days. I noticed earlier this summer comming thru on our cruisers on 348 there were several shootoff type trails or offroad sections, have you explored any of this? or are they legal?
Flux lead this ride...I have only been up there 3 or 4 times off road.
Yes...there was a long section of pavement...Hwy 180 and 76.
Helen is ok if you like tourist towns...I don't.
The map of the Chattahoochee National Forest is currently out of stock but they are supposed to be available again in the spring.

Thanks for links, Helen wasn't bad when we went, it was definately not over crowded I would call, rather small town .. seems to have a little night life any day of the week..
Hey Kevin! I just got my first GPS for Christmas today and I'm still trying to figure it out. I've got a Magellan Explorist 400. If the route you just posted is off a Garim, can I upload it to my Magellan?
Have you bought any software for your Magellan yet? I just bought a Explorist XL to play with. It came with a sticker that I could get topo 3d for $15.00 so I bought that, but I've yet to get the routing software. Also not real familar with the Magellan yet but I'm sure you can convert stuff back and forth with some public converters.
