While riding down MT 323 south towards Devil's Tower, I was attacked by a vicious horizontal wind and rain with absolutely no cover to be seen anywhere...just wide open rolling farm land. I Kept riding, thinking that if I spotted a farm or any abandoned building I would seek shelter. I ended up finding this old school house long since abandoned. Spent some time there waiting for storm to pass.

IMG_9169.JPG IMG_9170.JPG Not sure what these are. Maybe old coke ovens because it's around an old mining area. I've ridden this road many times and never noticed them before. Usually there's a lot of foliage. This time I was stuck behind a slow moving truck.

Yes, they were coke ovens. Looks like the ones in Coalburg on the firelane by the Five Mile Creek near the sewage plant.
A many moon ago, many of those ovens were used for making alternate fuel :photog

TN has gotten buttloads of rain this winter, seems wetter here than ever before.
This has really cut down on my riding opportunities, as I don't like to leave my motorcycle in the parking lot at work to be rained on all day long....

Damn gettin' old. I can remember when this store was in business. My mother and sister had a rural paper delivery route and picked their papers up here.

Notice the hours. Around here damn near every business closed at lunch on Wednesday. That's a blast from the past. Not anymore.
