This old home in West Virginia is still loved. It's vacant but someone is keeping the flower boxes on the porch care for.
Silver City, ID established in the mid 1800’s is a wonderfully preserved “ghost town” with many of the original buildings having been maintained and or saved.
I wonder why they took out the fireplace?
A lot of old fireplaces become unsafe and besides, they had that newfangled steam heat installed.
Capital Reef National Park. Restored blacksmith shop that served the Fruits region.
Lawen store, a few miles south of Burns OR on OR78. These small stores away from town served the local area when transportation was more limited. When people could get to town more easily the need for these little stores (this one was a post office too) dried up-as did the business. There are lots of little stores like this scattered throughout the west.
