This was suggested by flei in the old structures thread. These structures were done during the recovery from the Great Depression from around 1933 till 1942 to give work to the many unemployed. Without this, we would not have nearly the number of great Parks in the US.

No pics to contribute right now, but i will be on the lookout! I have seen many beautiful works by the CCC/WPA all over the USA in my travels, but have rarely taken photos. To get everyone started on this thread, here is a link to all the WPA projects in the country by state: If anyone wants to start a thread, here's a great website with a list of projects and their locations that could help get things started (and it's a great resource for the history of the New Deal etc.): https://livingnewdeal.org/us/

Oooh, I’ll play. Rocky Knob Cabins near MP170, Blue Ridge Parkway. From what I understand these were formerly known as Rocky Knob Housekeeping Cabins and was lodging for CCC workers. Some of you locals or folks that get more time on the BRP than I do feel free to correct my history. Sorry, no bikes in the pix. I’ll have to do my best to remedy that situation this summer.

My father said the CCC bricked the street he grew up on in Pittsburgh when he was a youngin’. Thought it might be a good photo op the next time I go “home” but Google Maps shows it’s since been paved over.

I've taken pics of a lot of markers placed at locations of the CCC camps here in PA. There might be parts of old foundations or chimneys remaining also.
Here's one camp, near Farrandsville PA.

I've probably got a few dozen of these but they are all already posted in other threads. Mostly in the old school thread.

    Copied from the Structures thread!

Taken a few weeks ago.. No bike in the pics because the gates were closed so I had to walk in..

This is an old picnic area in the Chattahoochee National Forest, built by the CCC in the 1930's. It has been shut down due to disrepair and lack of funding for maintenance. The stone-work here is just amazing and probably something we'll never see again.

Someone setup a camp here, probably squatting... I didn't go in to see if anyone was home!

Even the drains, sidewalks, and gully's are rock-armored:

Just a beautiful setting. A shame it is no longer in service.
