Ok I have been thinking about this. I have seen where some others have thought about it but not seen where anyone has done it.
    I did see a crf150 with a xr200.
I want lower maintenance motor in a better suspended bike.
I have seen where guys are just upgrading the ttr suspension but I thought it would be fun and maybe I could get a lighter bike.
So what questions should I be asking?
What yz frame chassis should I be looking for?
I have 04 forks on my bmw dakar so I would like to be able to swap wheels. What other years can fit the 04 forks
Need to be a steel frame so I can do some welding.
    Could a 99 125 chassis work?
What about the 250 chassis. Are they the same? What about the wr frame and chassis.
Since I would like a light weight bike what frame and chassis are the lightest.
    About the engines in question.
    Xt225
    Ttr225
And I really like the ttr250. It can be bored out to 325 but how much heavier is it.
    Thanks for all the help.

I would get 92 wr200. Not sure if the wheels will fit but you could swap on some cheap late 90's yz forks on it. That bike had 200 2 stroke that was a street bike motor in Japan. They are bullet proof and have a 6 speed.

Another option might be a 01-02 wr250. You could make a nice woods bike out of that

The YZ125 motor is about 45 pounds with oil, radiators and coolant.

I can measure dimensions on the 125 frame if that'd help. There's either a ttr225 or 250 that I can measure some motor dimensions from too. From memory, the ttr motor is a big lump. It's not going to be light. But it will be way more tractable than the 125 2t motor.

Did this go anywhere or stall out as a project? Friend wants to trade me his yz125 and a xt/ttr swap is looking like a good combo.

It went no where got the ttr street legal and been riding it stock. Love the ttr. May consider something in the future but for now enjoying riding more than project. I have enough projects

Beta was supposed to bring in a full sized TTR 125 powered DS enduro this month but I headprd today it was pushed back to next year.

Estart and was supposed to be 220 lbs without gas.

Not premium suspenders, and I don't believe the engine will hold up as well as a gently ridden or throttle limited competition engine but to each his own.

I would have put a deposit down on a water cooler Beta 125 4t available only in Europe. Another Yamahe engine, but I'd not Exocet it to lady as long as a KTM exc4-5xx ridden medium fast.

I'd be beating the piss out of an air cooled 10 hp TTR engine.
