A friend of mine bought a very nice factory prepped yz450F motocross bike. Bought it from his cousin who is pro MXer. Not knowing at the time that it isn't set up for trail/enduro. I told him to sell it and get a KTM. LOL.

Good thing is....The bike only weighs 198lbs dry.

He isn't a Mx rider and prefers to ride trail and single track...all in southern utah.

what would be the easiest way to convert this bike to a really nice desert bike.

    Thoughts....?

I had a '04 YZ450F that was my trail bike/race bike, set up very well for desert, tank, armor, Rekluse, suspension, etc. I loved it. 220lbs wet.
I sold it and bought an '08 WR450F. I set up the WR the same way, Rekluse, suspension, full exhaust, Scotts damper, armor, tank, blah, blah...
WR is now plated, DC lighting circuit, LED lights. 248 lbs.
Couldn't be happier. I desert race the WR, trail ride, D/S ride.
I don't even notice the extra weight.
Trying to make the YZ into a WR doesn't work.
And it has a button, a lovely little button...
