Been a while since I did any repirs to two-smoker dirt bikes. I need to have a cylinder nic-a-siled (replated), new piston, ring gaskets etc... Where is the best place to get all this stuff? The dealer is way expensive and I'm sure there is better avalable.

Any suggestions would be very much appreiated!

Check out Roadracing World's website for sources on cylinder plating.

You can probably get pistons and rings from Wiseco.

    Go to Yamaha for gaskets.

Sent the cylinder off to US Chrome. I'll get a piston kit from Wiseco when I get the cylinder back, just in case they had to bore it oversize (not likely). Did a bunch of research yesterday! Lots of stuff out there fro these bikes!

Is there anything he should be checking after getting the cylinder back, like rough edges around the transfer ports or the power valve that might snag a ring? Or do those guys usually clean that stuff up pretty well?

The plater says they will ship it back ready to go. Of course, I'll inspect it thoroughly before I put it all together.

    For a 2 stroke...............itsa a 3 beer assembly:freaky

to clean power valves its an honest 6 pack:evil

Every time I have gotten cyl back from plateing the ports have always had proper relief. If however you do get them back sharp, gently chamfer them with a good file (make sure the file is harder then the plateing).
