What is the longest distance between gas stations on day 1? I'm trying to decide if I need to cart some fuel over to the sag wagon.

I think I'm in. This, of course, assumes that my bike runs when I reassemble it.

Boy I know that feeling as mine is still splayed all over the shop floor while the paint dries. I wasn't going to do the tank until after this ride but went ahead and did her last night so the pig will be all one color scheme. As far as fuel stops I don't have the info but will be running full so there's always a gallon or two to share from me if you start to come up short. No worries on fuel.
    Hope you can make it.

For anyone wanting to check out the locations of the fuel stops the chase vehicle will make, they are posted on the Southwest Dual Sport Riders thread (close to the last page of the thread). However, a simple answer is: We have planned our fuel stops to accommodate those of you who may be fuel capacity challenged! If you are still concerned about fuel, Yardstick had a good idea, he carried a couple of small (like 1 liter) Thermos type bottles of fuel in his backpack, just don't forget which ones have fuel and which have water, as fuel does not taste too good!:rofl

Those MSR fuel cans work pretty well, but 2L of fuel + another ~3+L of water + tools, snacks, GPS, Spot, etc... makes for a really heavy backpack. I've ridden with it all day, but I wouldn't recommend it. Find a way to carry fuel on your bike if you have a limited range.

That and the SE burns 2L of fuel before it hits third gear. I usually carry a spare gallon on the tail.

Ran into the boys out in Perkinsville this morning. Eddy said someone got hurt earlier. Hope he's ok. I think I was following your tracks thru all kinds of ungodly places today. Was that you guys who got WAY off track and ended up in a wash? :lol3
