Yeah, it was via cage. No real choice this time. Instead of boring you with cage-trip info, I'll just slap up some pics from this weekend.

That's my buddy Garth in the last pic there (the reason I had to do this in a car). I'll be going back there this September via bike to do the trip properly on my own while en route to the midwest. I consider this past weekend a 'scouting trip' to get an idea of what to visit.

And no, I'm not referring to the 4 hour, 45 mile long traffic jam of Stupendous Doom that was on the I-15 this past Sunday. I mean this board.

I go away for 5 days... and there are so many new posts it'd take me 5+ hours to just get through them all.

Hell with that. :flip I'm just hitting 'refresh' and starting from scratch with this post and reading forwards as more roll in. :evil

Also -- a question for you Utah ADV-types: What the heck is with the 'beehive' highway signs? That's just weird.

Bite my fuzzy blue hindquarters, Fluggie. :thwak :evil

I had the choice of either staying at home and doing nothing or running a long-distance, cage-requiring errand for a friend... getting to see pretty places on the way. I chose the latter.

Besides, I won't be impressed until you have a pic of yourself hanging off one of those balancing rocks like a demented version of Wile E. Coyote...

    Howdy Tugrik,

The whole area of southern Utah and the many parks it encompasses is truly spectacular as is the Grand Canyon area. You took some fine photos, they should inspire folks who have not seen this area of the USA, to visit and enjoy the southwest. Thanks for sharing.:):

Nice photos, Tugster. Fuck em' if they don't appreciate a cage trip. The doc spouse and I are doing a cage Road Trip in Sep/Oct. There is something to be said about having your Peet's coffee on the dash, crunchin' cheese doodles and listening to rock and roll while you cruise. Yeah baby!

good trip & I've done it all on a Scooter. I just got a book with 75 trails in Arizona. All for 4-wheel drive vehicles ( we can do all of those, easy, right). This is a great area. I love this country!:turkish

Beehives - There are many natural rock formations in S Utah that resemble a beehive. I remember seeing many more of them in Zion than in Bryce...

Perhaps, but that has little to do with the state symbol.

    From the Utah! website...

"Industry" officially became the State Motto on March 4, 1959. "Industry is associated with the symbol of the beehive. The early pioneers had few material resources at their disposal and therefore had to rely on their own "industry" to survive. The word "industry" appears on both the State Seal and the State Flag.

    Utah´s Emblem
The beehive became the official state emblem on March 4, 1959. Utahns relate the beehive symbol to industry and the pioneer virtues of thrift and perseverance. The beehive was chosen as the emblem for the provisional State of Deseret in 1848 and was maintained on the seal of the State of Utah when Utah became a state in 1896.

How many unnatural rock formations do you reckon there are in Utah?

Uhh, I'd say that there's an unnatural rock formation in this picture, just look to the far right of the frame. See it? Very unnatural indeed!!!

It seems you were lucky enough not to notice the Highway Patrol also have beehives on their cruisers and uniforms :arg .
