Heading to Zion in a week or so with the family. Thinking of staying for 2-4 days depending on how much fun we're having. Driving in from California.

Trying to figure out if there is a cool little town to stay or is it best to stay in the park. We don't mind driving a bit each morning and prefer to park in-front of our room rather then at large resort type hotel.

Any locals have any suggestions. We're traveling with our dog and our 2 year old.

    thanks

Springdale is the town that borders the park entrance, with shuttles running into Springdale and into the park (free shuttle). You can get a nice, affordable hotel in Springdale, then have access to all the amenities of a small town, and the convenience of the shuttle. Your dog will be stuck in your hotel room.

Don't miss the hike up Angel's Landing.

If you want to camp, head up Kolob Canyon about 4 miles. Very nice with a nice little stream and it is close to all the good stuff without being piled on top of other people.

Make the trip to the Subway.....well worth the hike and much better then Angel's Landing in my opinion.
