The good people at Forcefield are hard at work still, despite Brexit and now coronavirus woes disrupting life in Great Britain. They’ve just introduced a new line of soft body armour, the Pro Air series. Forcefield claims it’s “the lightest, most breathable, most protective and comfortable armour system available.”
So what’s it all about? Alas, details seem difficult to glean from Forcefield’s press release, which directs us to the website to “Find Out More,” only to let us down upon arrival, as details are also lacking there, or at least difficult to find. We are told, however, that it has “Seam-less loom mesh construction,” which does indeed sound light, breathable and comfortable. The website mentions “Be-Cool™ 4-channel fibre technology.” According to the website, “BeCool™ is a unique fibre that has a greater diffusive area than standard fibre; this ensures high levels of breathability and comfort. It is also anti-bacterial. During exercise, the unique shape of the BeCool™ fibre means it acts like a fan extracting hot and wet air away from the body and replacing it with cool and fresh air to help maintain core body temperatures in both cold and hot conditions.”
Attractive features indeed, especially for those of us who ride in hotter climates, or who have a habit of getting stuck in mudholes and working up a sweat while we extract the bike. Although, Forcefield does say this gear is useful for all motorcycle disciplines, not just adventure bikers and dual sport riders.
As for the protective part, the press release promises CE Level 2 armour throughout the line.
The press release tips a new Forcefield Pro Shirt X-V 2 AIR shirt (pictured above) as well as a back protector and knee pads. North American pricing and availability are unclear at this point, but Forcefield does seem to be selling it on the UK show circuit.
