The motorcycle industry is currently being hit hard by the impact of COVID-19, but few aspects have been hit as hard as the world of roadracing. Everything from club-level racing and rider training in the USA to the big leagues, MotoGP and World Superbike, has pretty much come to a halt. And it couldn’t have come at a worse time, as many riders are stuck indoors, trying to avoid social contact. Wouldn’t it have been nice to watch some racing?
Dorna, the company behind World Superbike and MotoGP, has got your back. For the next little while, when there’s no fresh racing to watch, MotoGP and World Superbike are both offering free video access to racing via their websites. It’s not current racing, but Dorna’s hyping it as some of its all-time best events … although it is biased towards recent years. In other words, don’t expect to watch a lot of Hailwood vs. Agostini. It leans more towards Marquez vs. Dovizioso.
You can catch the MotoGP races by following the links here. For now, there are 10 events on display, but maybe that will change. MotoGP bosses say they’re getting ready for the Jerez round, but the COVID-19 news from Spain hasn’t been great in the past few days, so maybe they’ll have to add more races for free viewing, as more of the season gets cancelled. There’s also a list of free MotoGP documentaries here.
World Superbike’s races are found here; there are only five events listed for now, but we’re expecting more to be added in coming days.
